about
Divergence

Recorded 29 September 2007

Divergence is a drum feature. The drummer is free to improvise with the electronics. The volume of the electronics is controlled by the drummer. The louder the drummer is, the quieter the electronics are. The tempo of the electronic noise changes constantly as well. Meanwhile, the clarinets play a short trio and move into cueing long tones of chords. This piece is meant to be rather static. There isn't very much development of the material, just reiteration. I imagine this piece as a large object in space or in the water that is slowing moving towards something. So we can feel the presence of the object, but not yet felt the effects of it.
